NAGORI BED, A BALANCE OF STRENGTH AND LIGHTNESS
August 24, 2026

Presented during Milan Design Week, the Nagori bed marks the debut collaboration between Zanotta and designer Simone Bonanni.
The project builds its identity on the balance between solidity and lightness: the solid wood structure, chosen as the defining material, gives shape to a solid frame, while the self-supporting upholstered headboard lends lightness to the whole.
The structure housing the headboard cushions, rising in a gentle curve, lends sinuosity to the bed's profile. The joints are designed so that the components almost touch, resting delicately upon one another.

"Zanotta is a cultured brand with an important legacy. Throughout the design process, what fascinated me most was the pursuit of balance: on one hand, the rigorous design logic that defines many Zanotta products, often shaping their appearance to the point of turning them into icons; on the other, the desire to introduce a personal aesthetic language capable of bringing something new to their universe. It is a kind of mysterious recipe, delicate in its balance." - Simone Bonanni
Nagori is designed to be admired from afar and appreciated up close. Its generous headboard, supported by a horizontal rail, provides exceptional comfort even while sitting, transforming the bed into a place to inhabit, equally suited to moments of rest and quiet reading.

The bed's name is rooted in the Japanese language: nagori describes the lingering feeling left by the passing of something, often associated with the changing seasons or the passage of time. It is a concept that perfectly reflects the essence of a bed: an intimate object connected to rest, comfort and love.
This balance between form and function results in a bed designed to endure, both in everyday use and through the timeless quality of its aesthetic language.

Zanotta is a company with a strong design vision, future-oriented and with a strong attention to culture and a pinch of irony. Originally specialised in tailored upholstery, over the years, Zanotta has opened up to the realisation of design objects for the home. The numerous products in the collection, realised by the great masters and contemporary designers -including Achille Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti, Marco Zanuso, Ettore Sottsass, Alfredo Häberli, Ross Lovegrove, Ora Ïto, Philippe Nigro, Philippe Malouin, Muller Van Severen, Calvi Brambilla, Zaven among others - are timeless icons exhibited in the most important museums in the world and recognised by several international awards, such as 5 Compasso d'oro Awards. Founded by Aurelio Zanotta in 1954, the brand has stood out as a promoter of the democratic language and "extra-ordinary everyday life", a pioneer of innovative and sometimes disruptive projects. Zanotta’s production is entirely made in Italy, mainly in the workshop of Nova Milanese, and is in constant development of material quality and sustainable processes. The headquarters also hosts Zanotta: Lab, an exhibition and experiential hub designed to share skills, values, behaviours and strategies. In addition to the collection, Zanotta Edizioni is a limited selection of handmade collectible works, which combine design with applied art. Since the 1960s, Zanotta has conquered the international scene with emblematic and timeless objects, innovative in terms of aesthetic and functional research, as well as in the attention to the values of quality and Italian know-how. 2023 marked a new chapter in the history of Zanotta with the acquisition of the brand by Cassina, followed by the opening of a new flagship store in Milan in 2024, launched on the occasion of the company's 70th Anniversary.

SIMONE BONANNI
Simone Bonanni (August 4th, 1989, Pordenone) is a product designer based in Milan. After graduating from the Istituto Europeo di Design and working for three years at Marcel Wanders Studio in Amsterdam, he returned to Italy in 2015 to found Simone Bonanni Studio (SBS). For Simone, the aesthetics of a product arise from a deep understanding of its role within society and through a conscious synthesis of function, context, and meaning. In his work, these factors continuously evolve and interact, shaping a relationship between object and user that is first affective and then physical. His design approach places strong emphasis on the communicative power of form and on the ability of objects to convey meaning. Over time, this perspective has evolved from a purely technical approach to a stronger focus on the emotions a product can evoke, giving priority to its symbolic and sensory dimensions. Today, the studio collaborates with leading international brands such as Alessi, Moooi, MDF Italia, FIAM, Falper, among others. Simone’s work has been featured in major international magazines and online platforms including Zeit Magazin, Dezeen, Abitare, Elle Decoration, Elle Décor, Il Sole 24 Ore, Marie Claire Maison, Interni, Domus and many more.
