ZANOTTA REISSUES MARCUSO AND CUCULIA IN A DIALOGUE BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT

Marcuso table by Marco Zanuso for Zanotta

Nova Milanese, July 2025 - Zanotta continues to honour the great masters of design by reintroducing iconic pieces such as the Marcuso table, designed by Marco Zanuso in 1969-1970, and the Cuculia bowl by Alessandro Mendini, created in 1985.

Balancing tradition and modernity, Zanotta renews its commitment to championing signature design, breathing new life into historic projects that continue to speak to the present with striking relevance.
This is a path of thoughtful reinterpretation, one that seeks to preserve the original identity of each piece while updating it through new finishes that engage in dialogue with contemporary living.

A symbol of the company’s technical expertise, it was among the first to experiment with an innovative technique for joining metal and glass. The Marcuso now returns to the catalogue in its original version: a stainless steel frame with a glass top, available in a round shape with diameters of 120-130-140 cm and 150 cm.

Alongside this historic reissue, Zanotta introduces two new interpretations of the Marcuso, both featuring a central frame and legs in gloss-painted steel, available in talc, hemp, seaweed, amaranth, and espresso tones.

The first version is topped with Calacatta marble, highlighting the contrast between the material’s solidity and natural luminosity. The second features a lacquered MDF top, offered in either a glossy or matt ton-sur-ton finish that matches the base, creating a refined and contemporary monochromatic effect.

The introduction of colour further demonstrates Zanotta’s intention to reinterpret Marcuso in a contemporary key, endowing the project with a new expressive character.

With these new iterations, the Marcuso reaffirms its status as a timeless design, evolving through new materials and finishes while preserving the expressive power of the original concept.
A tribute to Marco Zanuso’s pioneering vision, which continues to live on and inspire Zanotta.

Alessandro Mendini’s work also returns to the spotlight in the collection, with a new edition of the Cuculia bowl that further expands this iconic and instantly recognisable family of objects.

Made of hard polyurethane with a two-tone glossy lacquer finish, the Cuculia bowls are now available in a choice of three colours and two diameters: 25 cm in diameter with a yellow interior and lilac exterior (news 2025); 51 cm in diameter with a coral red interior and green exterior, or with an amaranth interior and caramel exterior (both presented in 2024).
