ZANOTTA’S SACCO ARMCHAIR: THE ORIGINAL ICON OF CREATIVE FREEDOM SINCE 1968

Nova Milanese, September 2025 – Since 1968, when three architects and designers – Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini and Franco Teodoro – first presented to Zanotta the idea of a seat free from schemes and conventional forms, Sacco has become the archetype of the bean bag: a symbol of Italian radical design and one of the most recognisable icons worldwide.

Exclusively produced by Zanotta, Sacco stands out for its innate simplicity: an armchair that adapts to the body thanks to its filling of high-resistance expanded polystyrene spheres, remaining relevant across styles and generations without ever losing its relevance and identity.

More than fifty years on, Sacco remains true to its original concept, evolving only through its upholstery to reflect the needs of contemporary living.

The latest development is the new Tux cover, unveiled during Milan Design Week 2025: a fabric made of cotton and polyurethane, offered in a fresh palette of vibrant colours. Alongside Tux, the range also includes Vip, ideal also for outdoor use, as well as the leather version, refined and elegant.

Available in three sizes (54×59 cm, 68×63 cm and 80×68 cm), Sacco is a versatile and cross-generational seat: loved by both children and adults, able to fit harmoniously into any space, while also engaging with worlds beyond design. A recent example is its collaboration with Bottega Veneta for the The Ark collection, presented at the SS25 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week.

Awarded the ADI Compasso d’Oro for its lifetime achievement in 2020, Sacco continues to embody the most authentic and visionary spirit of Italian design: free, universal, timeless – reaffirming Zanotta’s role as interpreter and guardian of a unique design heritage, driven by constant research and passion.
