COMFORT AND DESIGN: ZANOTTA’S SOFAS THAT REDEFINE LIVING SPACES

Nova Milanese, 1 October 2024 - Zanotta, a symbol of radical Italian design worldwide, has created furnishings that do not merely decorate spaces but transform them, fostering environments that encourage conviviality and relaxation. Among the many sofas of the Zanotta roster, the famous Pianoalto by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, William and Noah by Damian Williamson, and the new Za:Za Max designed by Zaven, stand out each representing an example of sought-after and refined design.

Designed in 2012 by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, Pianoalto stands out for its minimalist silhouette, which harmoniously integrates into any environment, whether modern or classic. The choice of materials reflects a straightforward aesthetic: the well-proportioned cushions combine beauty and functionality, while the wooden structure, supported by graphite-coloured steel legs, features elastic webbing to ensure superior comfort.

The raised seat appears to float, with the base cradling the soft cushions, creating a captivating "skyline" in the living room. Additionally, the unique curvature of the backrests and seats ensures superior comfort. The modular system of Pianoalto offers endless configuration possibilities: sofas, chaise longues, armless end units, and ottomans can be combined to create customised solutions, from monobloc sofas to arrangements of 4, 6, 8, or more seats. The elements can be arranged in a linear fashion, in a corner, or in more complex layouts.

A timeless classic in the Zanotta catalogue is undoubtedly the William sofa, designed by Damian Williamson in 2010. With its robust structure and generous cushions, William is the perfect companion for moments of complete relaxation.

William was born from the idea of deconstructing the sofa into "layers of comfort," not only visually but also literally. It starts with the elastic structural part in the lower layer, followed by a central layer of polyurethane foam, and ends with a very soft top layer of goose down. Featuring a sturdy steel frame and a spring system with elastic straps, William offers exceptional comfort. The aluminium legs, available in either polished or painted versions, add a touch of elegance and visual lightness.  One of William's key strengths is its versatility: available in both monobloc and modular versions, it allows for endless personalised configurations, including sofas, armchairs, ottomans, and chaise longues. The integration of solid wood shelves, in oak or canaletto walnut, makes this sofa not only a functional element but also a refined piece of furniture.

The William sofa perfectly embodies the Scandinavian philosophy of simplicity, functionality, and quality, with a minimalist aesthetic that does not compromise on comfort.

Designed by Damian Williamson in 2022, the Noah sofa is a masterpiece of versatility. Its modular structure allows for various configurations, making it perfect for modern and dynamic spaces. With its soft lines and enveloping design, Noah is ideal for both relaxation and socialising.

A distinctive feature of Noah is its layered architecture, with slightly offset padded volumes resting on a slim structural platform with rounded edges, upholstered in fabric or leather.

The range of options includes monobloc sofas, modular units, and ottomans, with matte satin nickel or graphite-coloured painted steel feet. The Noah system offers a variety of modules that allow for linear, corner, and curved configurations, catering to individual space and style needs. Among the options is the possibility to add elegant solid ash wood trays, painted in matte black, perfect for holding everyday items. The trays, available in both fixed rectangular and movable circular versions, create a practical and refined surface that integrates seamlessly with the sofa, offering a functional solution without compromising design.

The new Za:Za Max sofa, unveiled during this year's Milan Design Week, is the result of the long-standing collaboration between Zanotta and the Venetian design duo Zaven.

Building on the success of the Za:Za sofa introduced in 2022 and Winner of the prestigious XXVIII Compasso d’Oro Award, Zaven has advanced this innovation with Za:Za Max—an evolution that highlights Zanotta's commitment to environmental sustainability. Utilising exclusively recycled and recyclable materials, Za:Za Max is much more than just a sofa;

With its generous dimensions and deeper seating designed for maximum comfort, this sofa features modular elements—including two distinct terminals and a pouf—that allow for various configurations and encourage creativity.
